cheeks: do you think the steelers could add a vet like Jake Scott or Vernon Carey

Gerry Dulac: I really don't think you will see the Steelers add any free agents until after the draft, if then. A veteran guard such as Jake Scott sounds nice, but he will cost some money and the Steelers are not going to do that, not after they tendered $1.2 million each to Doug Legursky and Ramon Foster.

CNC: What are the chances the Steelers will bring Hines back in a coaching role?

Gerry Dulac: About as great as them bringing back Terry Bradshaw to be QB coach.

Jack Splat: Bengels still a possibility to sign Wallace?

Gerry Dulac: They never were. Not with A.J. Green. Do you really think the Bengals would sign Wallace to a big contract -- plus a No. 1 choice -- when Green is already their No. 1 receiver with a big contract? That was never going to happen.

cheeks: I keep reading Hightower as the guy the Steelers should draft in round 1, but Jenkins and Gilmore at CB sounds so much better. Thoughts?

Gerry Dulac: You won't see a corner drafted by them in the first round or even the first four. They have three young corners they like, especially the two rookies from last year -- Curtis Brown and Cortez Allen. They have much more pressing needs than cornerback.

Tship: Gerry, if they deem it has value pick at #24 is Coby Fleener from Stanford someone they would take even thought it fills no real immediate need?

Gerry Dulac: Good question. If they deem him to have top-25 value, yes. I like Fleener, but I believe he can be had on the second round. Drafting a tight end in the first three rounds won't surprise me. In fact, I have advocated it.

Bruce: Does Todd Haley turn this offense into a top 10 offense this year or will he underachieve like I did?

Gerry Dulac: Haha.

Tship: Any more progress on signing Batch or Leftwich, also doesn't seem like people are lining up for Dixon like he may have thought any chance he comes back as well?

Gerry Dulac: No progress that I'm aware of. I keep hearing that Leftwich might look at another option, but I don't think that will happen. I think he wants to stay here as a No. 2. And there was so much frenzy with Peyton Manning, Alex Smith, Matt Flynn, Tim Tebow and David Garrard that Dixon was going to get lost in the shuffle for now. But I don't think it is on his radar to come back. He wants to go somewhere to be a No. 2. After five years in the league, he needs to move on.

Ryan: When Cortez Allen was drafted a lot of the talk was he was a long term project but he was quite a surprise with how well he played when he got into the games do you think he has surpassed Curtis Brown? I still think borwn will be better overall but Cortez has already exceeded expectations.

Gerry Dulac: You're right on a couple fronts -- Allen developed quicker than expected, which is why he received playing time last season as a rookie. But the coaches and players are really excited about Curtis Brown, another guy who earned playing time based on his performance on special teams. If both develop the way the coaches think, you can get rid of Ike Taylor in 2013.

Bruce: Which would you prefer, a slight trade up for Poe or stay put and grab Hightower?

Gerry Dulac: I would rather see them trade up and get Dontari Poe, but that might be easier said than done. Poe can be a dominant player in the middle for years to come. Hightower is good, but I'll wait and see if he is dominant. But I wont quibble about taking Hightower.

cheeks: They might like the 3 young corners, but Lewis is not a starter and Ike is nearing the end. Why not add a stud corner now instead of chasing for one a year from now.

Gerry Dulac: Because they have other immediate priorities beyond cornerback.

Gerry Dulac: That's all the time we have today kids. I will be at the Masters next week so we won't chat again for two weeks. Bye now.
