PITTSBURGH - Richie Hebner's 3 run HR with 2 outs was enough to hold off the Cardinals, 4-1.
Roberto Clemente singled in the 3rd inning but was forced out at 2nd to end the inning.
Clemente is now just 88 hits away from 3,000.

The Cards scored a run in the 1st inning on Joe Torre's triple. The Pirates countered when Willie Stargell doubled home Dave Cash to tie the game. Hebner's blast drove in Stargell and Al Oliver to make it 4-1.

The Cards made it 4-2 when Dwain Anderson moved to second when Rick Wise reached 1st on Hebner's error. Lou Brock singled Anderson home with an unearned run. St.Louis pulled to within a run in the 9th when Ted Sizemore singled home Joe Hague.
Luke Walker (1-1) got the win. Dave Guisti pitched 3 innings to earn his 2nd save. Rick Wise (3-3) pitched a complete game but took the loss.

Wednesday's matchup is Reggie Cleveland (2-2) vs Steve Blass (3-1).
