21-3K CLEMENTE'S 3,000 HITS PHILS TOP BUCS IN 12TH, 2-1
CLEMENTE 1-5 Saturday, May 27th, 1972

PITTSBURGH - Roberto Clemente scored the tying run in the 6th inning. But former Pirate farmhand Don Money greeted Dave Guisti by driving in Tommy Hutton in the 12th to beat the Pirates 2-1 and snap a 10 game losing streak.

Clemente is now 73 hits away from 3,000.
Starters Bill Champion and Bob Johnson fought a scoreless pitching duel until Willie Montanez led off the top of the 6th with his 3rd HR of the season.
The Bucs countered when Clemente led off the 6th with a single and scored on Manny Sanguillen's 18th RBI.

Guisti, who has been struggling this season, lost the game. He is now 1-4 with 3 blown saves. Bucky Brandon (2-1) won in relief. Chris Short earned his 1st save.

The Bucs are still in 2nd place, 5 GB the Mets.
Sunday has Dick Selma facing Steve Blass.

In memory of Mr. Les Banos.
